Academic Information
Christian Brothers College High School, based on the teachings of its founder
St. John Baptist de La Salle, is a diverse community of learners. In a college
preparatory setting, all students are met at their own individual academic level
where they, with the help of the CBC faculty/staff, strive to realize the
maximum potential of their God-given talents and abilities. The CBC graduate
will be a college-bound student who has realized his calling as a young man of
character and a young man of faith.
CBC students are tracked in the core academic subjects (English, Mathematics,
Science and Social Studies). Each of these academic areas offers a wide range of
courses from honors level for those students who excel academically, to the
developmental level for students who need additional academic support. Because
each individual student has strengths and weaknesses, he may be placed in
different tracks for different subjects. This flexibility in scheduling allows a
CBC student to be placed at a level that challenges him academically while
providing the support he may need to succeed.
Academically talented students at CBC have the opportunity to earn college
credit by taking Advanced Placement courses or courses offered through St. Louis
University and the University of Missouri. Grades in these courses are weighted.
