World Language
Department
The CBC Modern World Language Department
offers four years of French, German, and Spanish. Students learn
to communicate in the language as well as to appreciate the history,
culture, and customs of various countries. Two years of the same
language are highly recommended. French, German, and Spanish are
elective courses. Most students begin their language study in their
freshman year; others start in their
sophomore or junior year.
Students who have studied a modern world
language in middle school can take an achievement test for placement in the second level of that language. Levels V and VI are offered
for these students.
