CBC Names Campus in Honor of Bommarito Family

FULL RELEASE - Christian Brothers College High School is proud to announce that the school’s campus will be named in honor of the Bommarito family. Alumnus John Bommarito ’83 has served on the CBC Board of Directors and is now in his 11th year leading the CBC Alumni Open. John’s sons, Beau ’14 and Blake ’15, are recent graduates and played together on CBC’s 2014 State Championship basketball team. Tom Bommarito ’78 and Raymond Rowland ’05 have also been important members of the school community and represent the Bommarito family’s commitment to CBC that will continue to grow into the future.

“CBC means so much to my wife Melinda and me, our sons, Beau and Blake, and to my entire family,” John Bommarito explained. "We are so grateful my father Frank had the foresight to send my brother Tom and I to such an amazing school at a critical time in our life. We are honored that our name is now formally part of this amazing institution. The school changed my life in a positive way, and I watched it do the same for our two sons as well as so many great students and families who mean so much to us.”

As President of Bommarito Automotive, Missouri’s top automotive group, Mr. Bommarito is one of St. Louis’ most prominent business leaders and philanthropists. Under his leadership, the CBC Alumni Open presented by Bommarito Automotive Group and GFI Digital has become one of the premier charitable golf tournaments in the St. Louis region. To date, the tournament has raised more than $3 million dollars to benefit the school’s financial-aid program. All tournament proceeds support the school’s Lasallian mission of making a quality Catholic education available to as many young men as possible.

“John and Melinda’s commitment to CBC is second-to-none,” said CBC President Michael Jordan. “They are just so passionate about supporting our mission and the young men we serve. Over the years John has given so much through his guidance as a board member, his leadership of the golf tournament and together, John and Melinda have served as honorary chairs of our auction -- the list goes on and on.”

At the conclusion of the tremendously successful Stand Up for CBC Campaign, an effort supported by more than 1,000 loyal alumni and benefactors, the Bommarito family felt compelled to make yet another donation that will continue to help the entire Christian Brothers College High School community thrive, long into the future.

“My brother Tom and I were blessed to become part of this school community more than 30 years ago, and in recent years I’ve watched my sons thrive academically, become state champions and then get accepted to the colleges of their choice,” Bommarito added. “Our alma mater has an incredible history and means so much to our St. Louis community. I’m proud to say that today, thanks to the support of the most powerful alumni base in the country, CBC is stronger than ever!”
