Lucius “Lu” Hernandez passed away late last week at the age of 93.
Originally from Mexico, Hernandez’s parents immigrated to the United States when he was a child and settled in East St. Louis, Ill. After graduating from the University of Dayton and teaching in Spain and Peru, Hernandez returned to the St. Louis area and began a 25-year career teaching foreign languages at CBC and later at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.
“Lucius was a kind, soft-spoken and memorable man,” CBC President Michael Jordan, AFSC, said. “A father and a grandfather of CBC alumni, he was a Lasallian educator for over 20 years at CBC in our foreign language department. He was a mentor to many past and current associates at Christian Brothers College High School. May he rest in peace.”
Hernandez was a loving father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather.
We ask that our CBC community keeps Hernandez and his family in our prayers.
