Hobart honored with Archbishop John L. May Service Award

Congratulations to senior Jack Hobart, who has been named CBC’s honoree for the Archbishop John L. May Service Award.

This evening, Hobart will be honored at a Mass at the Cathedral Basilica along with the recipients from other area high schools. Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski will be presiding.

Last spring, Hobart saw a news story about senior citizens who were feeling isolated during the pandemic and was inspired to get to work, founding CBC Seniors 4 Seniors. Working together with his classmates, they have delivered flower pots, cards, and messages of hope to more than 1,000 area senior citizens. You can read about their work in the St. Louis Review.

Hobart discussed the success of his project when he addressed the Class of 2022 at the Junior Leadership Ceremony last Friday.

“I was surprised at how such small, really, simple gestures could make such a big impact," he said. "The success of this project has been a great learning experience and reinforces my desire to continue to serve others. ... It has provided me with a greater understanding for how easy it can be to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.”
