STEM education at CBC is a comprehensive program that includes various classes and extracurricular activities, such as aviation, robotics, coding, and engineering design. CBC has built partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide students with real-world experience and opportunities for internships and mentoring. This allows our students the ability to discover and develop passions, explore potential careers, make connections, and develop essential skills in authentic environments.
"Today, employees do not value what an employee knows. They are valued for what they can do," said Joe Henken, Director of the CBC STEM Academy. "We are preparing students for college and the workforce by providing them with a strong foundation and helping them develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for success in today's fast-paced, technology-driven world."
CBC went through a rigorous application process in which the school demonstrated success in several facets of an integrated STEM program, including support of STEM career pathways for non-college-bound students, community outreach and service in STEM areas, initiatives to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in program access, and more. CBC will be recognized at the ITEEA National Convention in Minneapolis in April and will be awarded a banner to be proudly displayed at the school.
