The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) recently named CBC High School a STEM School of Excellence for the 2024-2025 school year for our “commitment to providing a robust integrative STEM education experience and exemplifying outstanding leadership in the field of STEM education.” ITEEA created this recognition program “to celebrate those schools whose teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders are providing a meaningful STEM education experience for students and to inspire others to learn effective best practices and instructional strategies to enhance their own programs.”
This is the third consecutive year that our school has earned this recognition. CBC was selected based on a rigorous application process through which we had to once again demonstrate success in various facets of an integrated STEM program:
- Specific examples and artifacts from lesson plans that demonstrate the teaching and learning of the Engineering and Technology content and process standards.
- Support of STEM career pathways for non-college bound students.
- Community outreach and service in STEM areas.
- Collaborative STEM projects across academic disciplines.
- Initiatives to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM program access.
- Family-oriented events to involve our community in STEM.
- Activities to introduce our students to careers in STEM fields.
- Technology student associations and events.
- Participation in national STEM professional development for department members.
CBC will be recognized at the closing general session of the 87th Annual ITEEA Conference in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Congratulations to our hard-working and innovative faculty, staff, and students on this incredible achievement!
