CBC High School names TJ Vorva head volleyball coach

ST. LOUIS -- Christian Brothers College High School has named TJ Vorva as the next head volleyball coach.

Vorva, the former men’s volleyball head coach at Fontbonne University, replaces Alex Erbs ’14, who has stepped down as the Cadets’ head coach after seven years to focus on his business and personal endeavors. Erbs will continue to help the CBC volleyball team as an assistant coach.

“I’m thrilled to take the helm at CBC, and build on the strong foundation Alex Erbs established,” Vorva said. “My goal is to prepare these young men both physically and mentally for their next steps, whether that’s competing for state volleyball titles or excelling in life beyond the court. Bringing lessons from my time at Fontbonne University, I’m eager to share college-level insights, discipline, and strategies to develop these young men into confident, well-rounded individuals ready to tackle any challenge.”

Vorva was promoted to the men’s volleyball head coach position at Fontbonne in May 2023 after serving as an assistant coach for two seasons. He played his college volleyball at Fontbonne and was a team captain on the 2019 squad that went 26-3. He graduated from Fontbonne in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in Sports Management.

“We want to thank Alex Erbs for his seven years leading and transforming our volleyball team into a contending program,” CBC Director of Athletics Scott Pingel said. “His dedication and loyalty to CBC is truly appreciated. We are excited that he can stay with the volleyball program moving forward.”

“TJ comes to us with vast experience coaching club and college volleyball,” Pingel added. “His eagerness and excitement to get into the high school boys volleyball scene is awesome to see. TJ is ready to get this thing rolling and I cannot wait to see where our volleyball program goes in the future.”
