After graduating from Mizzou, EJ Verhulst '17 moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. He currently works as a Business Development Rep for Crush Security, which specializes in cybersecurity, helping companies that need stronger protection against cyberattacks get connected with Crush.
Lessons learned at CBC continue to stay with him today. EJ said, “CBC helped me to develop a strong sense of brotherhood, mental toughness, and an emphasis on accountability.” EJ was a member of the 2016 Cadet Soccer team, which won a state title, and the time management skills learned more than a decade ago continue to pay dividends: “Although it was difficult at times to balance schoolwork while playing multiple sports, it taught me a good lesson in working hard and managing my time.” He will always remember that special team.
“We had an incredible team, and many of those guys remain some of my best friends today. I’ll also never forget scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Chaminade in what was coach Michler’s 900th career win. Coach McCormack also had a big influence on me as my freshman basketball coach and golf coach for four years.”
In his spare time, EJ enjoys golfing with friends in Arizona, even when it is hot out! He also tries to visit family and friends in St. Louis as often as he can. Reflecting on CBC, he said, “The friendships I made, along with the life lessons I gained while attending CBC, are gifts I will forever cherish and have helped mold me into the man I am today.”
